Diabetes is a growing epidemic in the United States and in the rest of the world. Diabetes is not just a disease that only affects the few that are afflicted; it is becoming a way of life, infiltrating all aspects of our lives. As a result, we should make decisions concerning our diet and lifestyle to avoid diabetes. The American Diabetes Association states that over 20 million Americans have diabetes and many American scientists are continuing to investigate this complicated disease. According to the World Health Organization, 171 million people worldwide have by diabetes and many more people and this number is growing. With more people being diagnosed with diabetes, scientists are hard at work trying to find the cause of diabetes.
